Will I need an MBA to achieve my goal?

I am interested in leveraged finance loans syndication.

I went to a non-target state school and started off in Big 4 audit which was awful. After a year, I looked at jobs in loan syndication because it was an area I audited and liked. I didn't really apply to any BB since I figured it was a waste of time because I don't know anyone in the industry and figured I needed to rebrand with an MBA after a few years so I joined a small bank on their deal team.

The bank I work at is one of those small participant banks that joins the ride during the syndication process. We prefer to participate in the more leveraged stuff (B/BB) across various industries. I only recently started so I am excited to be getting my feet wet in the industry. I am currently learning how to model and perform proper credit analysis.

Ideally, one day I would like be at one of the banks that structures the deals and works to form the syndicate. Would I need to get a top MBA in order to make this transition?

I am also interested in corporate banking at a larger institution. I live in NYC if that is relevant.
