will i still be able to break into ib after gradduating uni?

i have recieved offers from target unis for bsc economics starting sep 2025 , howver during uni i do not want to apply to spring weeks or summer interships for various reasons , will my chances to break in be reduced if say i apply to ib firms 6mo or a year after graduating , as i have heard the recruioting process is very rigid?

Thing is , I understand the recruiting process is intensive eg online assesments , hirevue , perfecting cv ,etc etc. Takes a lot of deidcation and hard work on top of keeping up with uni work , even after that yr 1 analyst is intense work weeks 70hr-100hr from what i've heard.

I want to sort of take it easier at uni and apply after i guess.

You don't do nearly enough at Year 1 to justify not applying to SW if you are truly serious about a career in IB. Year 2 and 3 will only get WAY worse, Year 1 is simply laying the foundations. Why do you think you will cope even better in Y2 and 3 applying to Summers and Grad offers when it will only get MUCH more intense? If you cba to do this stuff when you are not busy at all what makes you think you can when it gets crazy?

Ok fair enough , the recruiting process is that rigid . How badly would you say my chances are affected?

0% honestly have you bothered to research this forum ?
