Winter IB internship - what to do

Hi all,

Current junior at non target in NJ double majoring in finance and Econ. I want to break into IB. I only have one searchfund internship under my belt. I wanted to ask what should I do to get an internship for this winter at a boutique IB in the NJ/NY area? There’s a bunch of boutiques around the area and am also planning to hopefully convert that winter internship into a summer offer as well.

When should I reach out and who should I reach out to?

Thanks!

Don’t get me wrong, it would be great to have a winter internship on your resume. My point was just that MOST people don’t do IB winter internships therefore it is not expected (obviously the more the better), but a summer internship is more expected on a resume and if you are targeting bigger banks (including MM), then I would invest my energy in that just given how early the recruiting timeline is
