Withdraw from class to attend superday
WSO,
I was recently invited to attend a BB (Citi,DB,BC) superday for an international program where I will be working in IB groups in different offices around the world for a two year program. The problem is the superday falls on a day where I have an exam for a class, and my professor will not let me reschedule it (she has her own policies regarding this). Would you choose to take the superday offer and withdraw from the class due to missing the exam or decline the superday and finish out the class? This would be my second withdraw on my transcript and do not want to hurt my chances of getting into a top 10 MBA program, so I hope people can shine on some insights and advice. Thanks.
I would tell the professor to go fuck themselves and then lobby the administration to force him/her to change their policy.
This. Fuck that horrible suit wearing, cheesy tie sporting, shaggy academic clown. And yea, I know it's a "woman".
You tell them about your situation and if she doesn't budge, you tell her you are going to school administration to demonstrate that she has no regard for the well-being of her students or the success of the university.
And then, you find the Dean in charge of the school and tell him your situation. If he doesn't listen, you go higher up and get career services involved.
Someone will listen and go to bat for you.
Hope you like curry
Not sure I get what you mean?
administration
Definitely talk to your dean about this, unless your dean is a douche and don't care about good job placement. Otherwise drop it, no point of school if you can't get a job.
This teacher needs to be smacked
Try telling HR your situation and see whether they can help you out by giving you a different day/time. If not, go to your dean
Fake a headache or something and get a doctors note from a walk-in clinic... much easier than arguing back and forth with the school administration
Your professor is an ass.
Go to the administration or speak with HR
Go to career services or the dean or something. Anybody with a vested interest in your career will sort this out. Don't take no for an answer from the administration.
Exactly. Your school has to recognize that the end goal of your college education is to obtain a job. You pay them a lot of money and they are supposed to support you in this. The least they can do is accommodate an interview.
Does dropping the class affect your graduation?
LOL your professor sounds like a horrible human being. I went to a very lib school and every b-school professor was very chill with me not going to class b/c of interviews.
Go to the Super Day. This is a job we are talking about, not some stupid class with a worthless academic running it. Whenever I hear stories like this, I am so glad to be working in the private sector and permanently away from the 'Ivory Tower' and all the worthless human beings who hide out on college campuses for their whole lives.
I would bet serious cash that your Dean or career services will get this fixed for you right away. You might also want to ask that you can switch into another section of the same class with a different professor. Academics are notoriously retaliatory.....
