Worried about full time recruiting
Hi,
I'm currently a rising senior at a semi target. My GPA is extremely low after this semester (2.7) and I'm an economics major. This summer I'm doing an unpaid equity research internship at a boutique investment bank and the summer before I did institutional sales at a big Asset Management firm in China. However, next year I'm worried that because my GPA and my internship isn't that good I won't be in top shape for recruiting. How screwed am I and what can I do at this point?

pretty screwed with that GPA if your aiming for BB/EB/TopMM. Do well in your boutique internship and try to leverage it to full time. If not, reach out to other boutique IBs in the area and look for FT there.

This question comes in all shapes and forms:
Network, Make sure you perform the best you can and learn the most you can, try and leverage that in FT recruiting.
Everything else is just network, and use whatever contacts you have. Your GPA is pretty much set in stone, so theres not much you can do about it. Dont expect like BX or BB, but I'm sure if you try hard enough you can get looks from MM or even some BBs. Check out a WSO success story with a guy that had a sub-3.0 breaking into BB IBD full time. He worked his ass off.
Network. Start early. Like tomorrow. And build actual connections with the people you network with (somebody wrote a good post on this awhile back).
Also, has your GPA been on an upward trajectory? As in, is the cumulative low because you ate shit frosh year but you've been improving since? Regardless, have a good story to explain it.

Not sure if serious. 2.7 to 2.8 would already be a stretch, 2.7 to 3.0 would probably end up in a rescinded offer. Unless you are saying that 2.7 and 3.0 are both so low that they won't even bother to check GPA?
