Would a high GMAT score help me land a job?
I graduated with a low GPA and no internships. I have no interest in an MBA but would a high GMAT on my resume help me land an interview for an entry level position? I'm networking while working a service job but I'm wondering if the GMAT is something I should invest me time in to land a position.
Any advice would be appreciated.
In short, no.
Say you spent 6 months studying and managed to pull off a 770+. Would this be impressive? Sure. But it won’t get you a job. The GMAT is a means to an end. And that end is business school. Without an MBA, a high GMAT score is more of a head scratcher than an accomplishment.
If you’re concerned about your low GPA and want to prove you have the raw intellectual horsepower to compete, then take CFA Level 1. The bonus is that the knowledge learned will actually be beneficial to your career in finance.
