Would a prospective employer contact my current employer for any reason?
Dear all,
If I submit a job application to a BB, would the prospective employer contact my current employer for any reason, as part of the application process? I am worried that my current employer would hear that I am looking for other opportunities - this could negatively affect me during performance ranking this year.
Should I be worried? My friends tell me that major banks would only contact the specific referees that I provide, and even so only after I pass the interview and am close to being hired.
Only in the background check after you've accepted an offer. Smaller banks may try to bend the rules a bit to vet a candidate, but BBs have a very standardized process
If it’s any type of lateral move people are smart enough to use discretion. I also don’t feel like any background check has really ever called any of my companies, in a regulated industry I feel like they just used brokercheck to confirm. But on your point, it’s highly unlikely.
