Would I be stupid not to take this IB offer?
I've been working in my current role for <6 months. I recently got an offer for an Investment Banking Analyst role at (HSBC/SMBC/MUFG/BMO/Soc.Gen) in a product group. Wasn't openly looking, this role fell into my lap via a recruiter. A good amount of people from my firm/group exit into IB. I've always wanted to do IB, but if I left my current place now it does feel a bit too early and looks bad. Should wait until I hit a year at my current firm, then try to get IB from a bank with a better presence and deal flow (BAML/JPM/MS)? Just worried I would be pigeonholed if I took the offer, and it didn't work out. Not many great lateral roles, fewer exit opportunities, and would be stuck for a while. Should I decline the offer and shoot for a BB later on, or take the MM role?
