BB - Finance - Product Control Vs. Big 4 Management Consulting HELP!

Hello Fellow Primates,

I am fairly new to WSO, but have been lurking for over two years now and I want to thank you all for your inputs.

I am currently a Jr. at a Non-Target (Top 30 institution) studying Finance and Economics.

I'm currently in a Dilemma where I was recently offered an internship at a BB in their Financial Controllers division and an offer with a Big 4 in their financial management consulting division.

I am torn between the two as I know the BB gig is a MO/BO position and the financial management consulting at the Big 4 is something that I don't see myself doing in the long-term. I have looked up all of the threads talking about the pros/cons of working in the BO, but they haven't answered my concerns fully.

I hope to become either a private banker @ a BB in the future or possibly work at a non finance related company (Google). If I were to take the position @ the BB, would the BB's name help me possibly get a job at Google? What position will provide the upper leg? Also, how does one transition from BO to possibly Asset Management/GWM at a BB?

Thanks in advance!

Do the consulting job. PC is a dead end job, and they often terminate people after a rotation period. It's a much easier sell to explain that you want to switch from consulting to finance.....it's a much harder sell to convince people that you want to go from a support role to an active role.

Especially financial management consulting at a big4, that's going to make it a very simple story to go to straight finance / fron office work.

Consulant will also be looked at better by tech firms, as many consultants go to tech. Within consulting, there are also tech practices you could transfer to, then to a tech firm. If you go PC, you're an accounting assistant with no real accounting work, and you're screwed.

Thank you UFO. Wouldn't the BB's name be grab the tech firms' attention more than the Big 4? I really want to spin the BB's name and work at Google Full-time if thats a possibility.
