College Junior
Hey guys, I'm a Junior currently attending Cornell University. I recently changed into a finance field after doing pre-medicine for 2 years. Currently feels like I'm back at square 1 again since I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing right now and my GPA is pretty sub-par but I hope to gain some information and insight from this forum and hopefully break out into the job market soon.
Thanks.
What's your GPA? Did you apply to finance internships for the 2014 summer?
Welcome to the site! In terms of what you can do, you should start out by getting involved in the finance clubs/organizations available on campus, both to learn more of the basics, gain some experience, and be able to show on your resume your interest in finance/etc.
I have a cGPA of 2.521. Internship deadlines are approaching soon and I'm planning on applying to over 100 of them, hoping I land one.
Extremely low GPA. Network well, don't put your GPA on your resume, take easy classes and pump up your GPA to at least 3.0, and don't get focused on one thing like investment banking. Apply to many places and understand that it will be extremely difficult for you to break in through traditional on-campus recruitment system because of your GPA.
I would actually say that it is mandatory for you to network to land something close to decent.
