Does anyone have experience in this?

Hi guys,

First time poster, long time reader here.

Just wanna say thanks to all the contributors on this site. Some real quality stuff that I've learned a lot from.

I'm looking for some advice on what to do next in my curent situation. My background is in accountantcy but I've wanted to be a trader/investor since I can remember and I decided to put myself to the test 2 years ago and began running my own portfolio. I've done fairly well employing a global macro strategy overlaid with technical analysis for things like entry/exits and risk mgmt. Started off with 25,000 and now have 100,000. Returns have been consistent of about 2% a month but I have leveraged on average 5:1 hence my figures.

Basically I'm wondering does anyone have expereience raising funds after a successful track record? Is it a case of getting it audited and approved by a third party, forming the LLP etc and then contacting banks, angel investors, other funds? Or would I just get laughed at?

Thanks in advance!

I have no experience of raising funds, but 2 years of positive returns isn't exactly a track record. Especially in this market.

Also, put yourself in the shoes of the people you would be asking for funds...

Hi, I was an accountant but always wanted to be an investor, so I started trading my own portfolio for 2 years and have gotten X% returns, would you like to invest in my fund?

What would be your answer to that?

Well I would go into detail as to how exactly I made these returns, why specifically I executed the trade, at what price, etc and what I would look for in the future and how and why I would execute those trades.

What kind of track record do you think is required to attract investment, in this market?
