Entry Level Banking Question

Hey whats up guys, I'm very new to this site and to the finance world in general so I have a couple questions that I would appreciate if the community would answer.

Background: I'm not sure whether I want to go into Commercial Banking or corporate finance. Right now my plan is to find an LDP at a large CB and after I complete my rotations figure out if I want to stick with CB or not.

1) Do employees generally have a say in where they work after they finish an LDP, or does the company usually send the employee where they want them?

2) What are the opportunities in CB after a finished LDP?

Thanks for the responses!

1) Yes, but to what degree depends on the company.

2) Depends on the CB, but I'd assume if you be doing credit or portfolio analysis. Depending on your rotations, you may only need to do that for a brief time before you move up.

Underwriters / Relationship Managers have a solid gig at most CBs. You get an expense account, wine and dine PE funds, I-bankers, business owners & execs, etc.

You could also go the portfolio management route if you prefer to look at risk and/or risk-weighted returns. Put you on track to become a Chief Credit Officer.
