Former Portfolio Analyst for Asset Management Division of MM Investment Firm let go due to Alcohol abuse / Addiction

Hi, just to give my quick story, I spent about four years as an analyst primarily focused on manager due diligence and portfolio construction and optimization for foundation and endowment clients at an mm bank. I did very well, was promoted to AVP, got to travel to train new hires as I essentially created this position from an executive assistant position. Well, long story short, drinking caught up to me to where it was affecting my performance, passion and effort. I couldn't stop and eventually came clean, went to treatment and then came back to a very unwelcoming environment and management deliberately sought ways to write me up for trivial things until they were able to terminate me. All of this happened this past May and since I have worked a two month contract position in a corporate finance role which I hated but have mostly been unemployed. At this point I've been sober for about six months and really want to get back into Asset Management, particularly manager due diligence. I have complete confidence in my ability to perform well, I just don't know how to tell my story. Telling the total truth obviously would create worry, and justifiably so, but I don't know how to spin this and don't want to totally lie..... If anyone has been through anything similar and could give some advice it would be more than appreciated. Or, if you could put yourself in a hiring managers shoes, what would your thoughts be on giving someone like me another shot? Feel free to message me if you want to keep anonymity.
