New here and have some questions

Hey everyone, so I'm a junior in high school and have decided to pursue a career in either accounting or finance(pros/cons seem too conflicting...) My first question is that how big of a difference does it make in where you get your undergrad for Finance vs Accounting, my grades aren't excellent so I wouldn't be able to get into a top10 or high ranked college... The choices I have narrowed it down to are San Diego State University, transferring to University of California: Riverside, Cal Poly: San Luis Obispo and Cal State Fullerton. My first choice is SDSU because i've always wanted to go there and it seems like a big enough city for a career in business, only thing is I have heard "recruiting" and "reputation" for SDSU isn't that great. The second question I have is, is it really THAT hard to find a good job with a finance degree(not from a top 10 school)? The initial decision I had made was to become a financial advisor or consultant, but I've found out a finance degree gets you almost nowhere and that its better to get a degree in accounting. The last question I have is, can Accounting majors Really get finance jobs and at times with a better chance than those with finance degrees? The only thing that didn't appeal to me in accounting is the salary(starting salary more-so). Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

First, I would try to get into the best university possible. Where you get your degree from matters to a certain extent no matter what industry you are in, just more so in certain industries. I'm not too familiar with any of the universities you named, but have you looked into getting into any UCs? If you can't get into UC berkeley or UCLA straight from high school, you can always try to transfer to them from community college, which is usually easier to do.

As for which degree you should get, it depends on what you want to do in your career. I just recently started using this website and it's a great resource. Search through the different forums on here and familiarize yourself with the different industries and careers.
