New Here Looking for Advice on Major
Hi everybody! This is my first post here on WSO. I am currently a senior in high school and will be attending college next fall. I am interested in pursuing a career in banking and I have begun to read through WSO and other websites to learn as much as possible about investment banking and other areas of banking. I am planning on double majoring and am seeking advice on what majors would be most beneficial to me. I am considering majoring in Physics and Economics or Physics and Accounting. I am set on one of the majors being physics as I have already taken two college level courses and gained credit that can be applied towards my major. Plus, my problem solving and analytical skills have benefitted hugely from physics. This really leaves the decision down to what my second major should be in, Economics or Accounting. Is one more desirable than the other, or will one help me more in terms of getting internships? Which will be the best for getting interviews and getting a job? I would love some input from those with more experience and give me any thoughts you have. This site is a great resource. Thanks everyone.
mechanical engineering and finance. If you must do physics, pair it with a social science like economics.
radical monkey Why do you suggest engineering, is it better received by banks? From what I've heard engineering tends to have a more rigorous course load than physics, although it obviously depends on the program. Not opposed to more work just wondering the thought process behind the idea. Thanks.
IB doesn't give a shit about your physics education or analytical skills, kid. However, anyone can learn finance; so, I'd suggest studying something useful.
If you want interviews, go to a good school and jacksaw your GPA
