Should I try to become a WS analyst?
Hi everyone, I'm new to WSO and would like to hear from those working on Wall Street whether I'd be a good fit or like the IB, PE culture. I go to a top-20 school in the US and majoring in a quantitative area. I've been writing for SeekingAlpha since high school, so I already have a pretty good understanding of basic finance, accounting, economics, ect. I'll probably graduate with a 3.6 GPA. The thing that concerns me is whether I can deal with WS culture. I work well with others, but I'm not an alpha dog. At school I'm not a frat star, I'm more introverted and bookish. I had a lot of leadership type things in HS, but not college. I don't enjoy conflict and would consider myself a somewhat sensitive guy. I can work in groups, but prefer working alone. I couldn't see myself schmoozing clients. I'm not a bullshi**ER, and don't enjoy playing political games. I don't really want to throw down $200,000 on an MBA. I'm thinking a career as an actuary may be a better fit and still have nice pay, but I'd like to hear from you guys? Do you know any sensitive, non-bulls*itters on the street. Thanks
I'd also like to say that I don't have great connections. My dad works in construction, so I basically grew up lower middle class. I don't know if that makes a difference.
