UGA to Investment Banking
I am a third year student at the University of Georgia, and my major is Finance. It's my dream to get into a large investment bank like GS, MS, etc. I know that a position as a SA is critical, and have started planning for a way to secure such a position. I was wondering if any UGA grads or other non-target school grads have advice? Also, if any UGA students/grads have info on the Corsair Society, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
you are in direct competition from kids in Emory. So you should talk to your friends in Emory and learn how do they prepare for Ib career.
Sneak into (or befriend) someone who's at GATech or Emory. If you were young enough, I'd say transfer. :/ I'm also from Atlanta, and though I got into UGA, I realized the finance prospects are really low. NETWORK, build your contacts in Atlanta. (SunTrust has a whole building full of young analysts. The easier way to meet them is on Roswell Rd.)
Remember you control your own destiny, network with everyone, and learn how to pivot your non-target status in the interview. You'll need to be super sharp on technical as well.
Do big banks recruit at Emory or Tech? I was under the impression that neither of them were target schools, though I know Emory does carry some prestige.
Recent UGA grad here,
Have you looked into the Corsair Society or Student Managed Investment Fund?

Was just curious what tier UGA would fall under.
