Where should I start learning about business?

I have heard more than once that you do not actually learn about business in your business school.

I've already been accepted into U Michigan's LSA school through Early Action and am most likely going to go there and get into Ross by sophomore year.

I wanted to get a headstart and teach myself about business since the rest of senior year is a joke. I have several books related to business like Buffet's and Gate's and Carnegie's biographies, Built to Last, Good to Great, Freakanomics etc. Should I start with the books?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Just so you know, getting into Ross UG isn't a trivial matter.

Sorry man, My buddy is going there next year also attempting ross

The key to doing well is wake up go to class, take good notes and pay attention. Go straight to library and study till 6-7 then party your ass off. If you actually do this and study 5 hrs a day and review and plan ahead on everything you are basically gold. But lets just say getting into ross is no laughing matter. It's really fucking hard. You should look into the pass rates for some of the courses and think about taking some of them over the summer before you head off to hedge some risk. At indiana we have a lot of courses with really really low pass rates that could kill chances of getting into the business school. I am taking all 3 of the weed out courses this summer. I recommend you do too. This summer will probably suck but its definitely worth it.

as for learning about "business" that is something you will have to decide. If you know what you want to do look for the top books in that area. If you are interested in trading/money management/value investing/IBanking then there are a lot of good books on WSO's reading list. You can find that by looking at the FAQ's tab at the top of the screen. I think it is under common questions, also check out the finance dictionary.
