I just went through a similar diversity program with mentor/mentee pairings as well and most of the mentors didn’t ever reach out to their mentees haha
About half the early ID crowd end up there for the summer. Regardless of the quality of your mentor, one can manage to make it a worthwhile program or not, depending upon one's attitude and initiative. The mentor is just a 22 year old kid who may or may not help answer a question or two; the mentor isn't responsible for your participation in the program. Based on what you have written, it is just as well there wasn't a superday for you. You didn't like them and it seems clear that didn't like you either.
I've worked in the industry for over 30 years (never at Citi). Life lessons to pass along to naive young posters who think mentors exist to help you get jobs and companies owe you honest feedback on your interview skills if they hate you. Not going to happen. These programs exist to funnel some of the most switched-on diverse candidates to these employers early, provided the candidates have at least some understanding of how the program works and are with the program. If not, do not waste your or their time.
Personally, I had an awesome Mentor. Really chill and we were able to just text and talk about things outside of finance which was nice. Kinda bleh not going straight to super, but I had a good experience with the first round today and overall decent experience with my mentor.
Sorry you had a bad experience and hopefully other places work out better for you. The Early ID mentors don't always volunteer, some of them are just assigned to do it, so your mentor can definitely vary. Lots of these analysts hate banking and don't want to lie about that to college kids, or are so busy they don't have time every week for it. The mentor can be hit or miss but the value of Early ID is really getting to the first round, since that is the hardest part of the IB process.
personally for me i found it to be extremely valuable because my mentor (alum) gave really great feedback and actually took the time to help me on my interview responses and technical prep. I do realize that I probably got lucky with my mentor and that not everyone's experience was the same.
Sorry to hear that. I had a great experience with my mentor. We talked for at least half an hour a week and she gave me very helpful feedback on mock interviews. She even sent me resources she used when she was recruiting -- my mentor is a legend.

My kid had a great time and got a permanent position, as did many of her early ID friends. Sounds like it wasn't the right fit for you.
No fit component at all. Just a mentor who simply doesn’t have moral decency
The mentor is the fit component.

Lmfao this bank just consistently proves itself to be the literal worst thing to ever exist in this industry
Classic Shitibank. FT Partners much better
Went through it last year in march and then they ghosted me till june for a superday but by then i had already signed somewhere else lol
I’ve had a great mentor and experience so far, my mentor and I get along and they have been super helpful in the process.

How was first round please pm me
Have you hear anything back yet?
This is not specific to Citi. This is a banking thing. Clearly you haven't spoken with enough bankers
.
