5 Solid Interview Tips from GS HR Chief
Business Insider Article in which the GS HR chief shares her five interview tips. I thought this was a solid and concise summary of a lot of interview advice given on WSO.
Tell your story: "Turn your experiences into a compelling story that reflects who you are, what you have done and how you have made an impact."
Do your research: "Know the company that you’re interviewing with – what’s their business, how do they speak about their culture, what are recent initiatives they’ve undertaken."
Ask questions and listen: "Ask thoughtful questions that show you’re prepared and looking to learn more about the company, the team and the role."
Be authentic: "One of the most important things you can do is to be yourself. Sometimes, candidates can sound overly rehearsed or act in a certain way because they think that’s what the interviewer wants."
Don't forget the basics: • Arrive on time • Be friendly to everyone you meet • Know the dress code • Pay attention to your body language • Send a thank you email or note
Most importantly, here's a massive tip guaranteed to give you an edge, courtesy of jhoration:
"Here's what you do: 1. Arrive at interview location about 15 minutes early 2. Greet the receptionist, hang up coat, etc. 3. Ask to use the men's room 4. Take a shit"
