Accounting - Useful tips or tricks?

I'm taking Intro to Accounting right now and one thing that is a royal pain in the ass is calculating dates. I frequently miscount 1 month before or 1 month after what I'm supposed to count.. Does anyone have any useful tips or tricks with regards to calculating passage of time?

use ur fingers lol it helps (if 1st of month add it-if 31st dont-dont worry about middle days doubt they will be on tests)
