But yeah I think it's quite well known that Ackman has some issues. There was also a recent article somewhere attempting to explain why Ackman and David Einhorn aren't friends anymore and it involved Ackman acting like a d, too

Check out this New York Post story where Ackman sends a 52-page letter to Herbalife's accountant to point out accounting errors and other stuff. He actually warns PwC that if they don't check out his claims they may be liable WHEN the company goes bankrupt.

He's got a lot of $ on the line with this one. He'll do whatever the hell he has to do to hopefully get some governmental intervention before he has to close the position.
I'd try to cover my ass, too. He may be a bit of a troll, but a clever one.
You win some you lose some - he apparently doesn't understand the concept of "cutting your losses"
He could set up a new firm to buy a huge share of the company then dump it all at once and crash the stock so his short position comes out a winner. Now that would be the trolling of the century.
And a sure way to go to jail for market manipulation...
