Add client on LinkeIn?

Just looking for some consensus, but I think I know the answer already: if you're a sell-side analyst, is it okay to add analysts from other institutions (in this case, analysts from buy-side clients or potential clients)?

The sell/buy-side split is not the focus here, but just an example. Is it okay to add other analysts on LinkedIn that you have had some kind of email exchange with, but not met in person?

Many thanks
