AI for Target / Buyers Lists?

Hi all - I originally built an AI software for PE investors for M&A sourcing. But am finding it start to resonate with IB folks lately. Use case is like ChatGPT, but for generating a comprehensive target / buyer list in niche industries.

I'm many years removed from my IB days, so wanted to ask: How relevant is this for junior bankers? How much of your time is spent generating these lists?

I'd assume there's a lot of precedent decks within most banks? Would love to get more feedback

Based on the most helpful WSO content, generating target and buyer lists is a significant part of the workload for junior bankers, especially in M&A. This task often involves extensive research, leveraging databases like CapIQ, FactSet, ThomsonOne, PrivCo, and Pitchbook, as well as manually compiling and monitoring data in Excel. For industries with a large number of players, like the one mentioned in the WSO thread (30,000+ market players), this process can be time-consuming and repetitive.

Your AI software could be highly relevant for junior bankers if it can streamline this process by automating the generation of comprehensive and accurate target/buyer lists. Key factors that would make your tool appealing include:

  1. Efficiency: Reducing the time spent on manual research and data entry.
  2. Accuracy: Ensuring the lists are comprehensive and tailored to specific deal criteria.
  3. Integration: Compatibility with existing tools and databases commonly used in IB.
  4. Customization: Allowing users to refine and adjust parameters for niche industries or specific deal types.

While precedent decks and internal resources exist within banks, they often require updates and customization for each deal. An AI tool that can quickly adapt to new parameters and provide real-time insights would be a valuable asset, especially as automation becomes more integrated into the industry.
