Amazon brings live broadcasting to Europe

Seems like everyday, more and more companies are finding new ways to attract cable users. Now it's Amazon's turn to be in the news. As stated in this article;

For the first time, Prime members in the UK and Germany will be able to choose to watch premium TV channels without having to sign up to a bundle or a contract, giving them the freedom to pay for only what they want to watch

The article mentions that Discovery channel has never been offered for broadcasting live outside of Sky TV.

Paolo Pescatore, director of multiplay and media at CCS Insight commented on the news stating that;

There's been a rush toward online video services and so-called 'skinny' bundles, accompanied by a proliferation of separate apps for each provider. But in reality, customers will not want to sign up to numerous services, receive more bills and be forced to open several apps to find the content they want," he said.

For those who still pay for cable, is this something that would entice you to switch over? Also does Amazon stand a chance against giants such as, Hulu and Netflix?

Personally, I use Netflix just because I split it with a friend, so $4/month isn't that bad. Although the Canadian Netflix doesn't have nearly as much content compared to the US version.
