American lifestyle vs. Europe

I came to the U.S. for school but grew up in Italy and France, and the cultural differences are striking. Here, people often take pride in long hours, big bonuses, and expensive purchases, while back home success is more about languages, culture, style, and making time for family and friends.

In Europe, being able to take time off is a sign of success, while in the U.S., constant work seems more prestigious. Which approach do you prefer?
