Amex Corporate Card Points?

I was given an Amex corporate card at work that I can use to pay for Ubers and food. I have seen some threads from years back about being able to get the points from the corporate card. Does anybody have any experience how this would work with a corporate card and with a potential upgrade to Amex Gold?

Separately, anybody have any side tips to maximize points / benefits in banking?

Appreciate the help!

Do you know if I would need a separate Amex card for myself outside of the corporate card?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights on using an Amex corporate card and maximizing points/benefits in banking:

Amex Corporate Card Points:

  1. Sign Up for AMEX Award Program:

    • Cost: Used to be $75/year (may have increased).
    • Earnings: 1 point per dollar spent.
    • Value: 1 point equals $0.005.
    • Breakeven: $15,000/year in corporate spending to justify the membership fee.
  2. Maximizing Points:

    • Corporate Expenses: Use the card for cabs, meals, travel, deal toys, closing dinners, etc.
    • Personal Card: You can also use your personal card for corporate expenses to earn rewards, but check with your company’s policy.

Tips to Maximize Points/Benefits in Banking:

  1. Travel Perks:

    • Hotel and Rental Car Points: Accumulate points and miles from frequent travel.
    • Upgrades and Lounge Passes: After about six months, you can start getting upgrades and lounge access.
    • Weekend Stays: If traveling to a major city, consider staying over the weekend to explore and earn more points.
  2. Networking and Career Growth:

    • Sign Up for Networking Events: Engage in networking opportunities to build connections.
    • Corporate Training Programs: Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and career prospects.
  3. Expense Management:

    • Track Spending: Monitor your monthly corporate expenses to ensure you are maximizing your points.
    • Consult Peers: Ask other analysts in your group about their spending habits and tips.

By following these strategies, you can effectively maximize the benefits and points from your Amex corporate card and enhance your overall experience in banking.
