Any good stories about dating colleagues/working with ex?
Inc. recently published an article called Help! I’m Supposed to Interview My Ex for a Job, and it got me curious.
Despite the office romance stigma, I'm sure stories of people dating each other at work aren't rare.
Has anyone dated a colleague? What was that like? Any good stories?
tons of PWM guys fuck their assistants.
1 guy in my office was banging his assistant (while married with kids mind you), his other assistant got passed over for a promotion, ratted, ended up getting a corporate gig. the slampiece caused a divorce, got pregnant, is still employed.
my manager's boss got fired for fucking an assistant, now he's at a rival firm. slampiece went to our board of directors with the issue because no one believed her.
I'm sure there are more, just having a tough time remembering
thebrofessor Can totally see this happen knowing how confident and bold people in PWM tend to be. This makes me think of this thread http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/how-to-get-lucky-with-a-svp
Underrated rule in business - don't shit where you eat.
ive experienced it, not much to say except i tossed her resume str8 to the recycle bin
I know a friend's sister who married a guy she met during an internship.
Clearly, those people got MS on them.
"Don't shit where you eat," as the old saying goes. Also, I've never dated my coworkers, but I've used them as "wing-girls" to pick up hotter chicks.
Yeah...Don't do it.
not a good idea
Dated a work colleague. Now married to her.
In short, it does not end well.
You married her, how did IT NOT END WELL?
He's joking you half a meatball...
I guess it does not end well because he married her. It might be a little better if he didn't.
2 analysts from my BB analyst class maintained a super secret underground romance (they were in the same group), and they are now happily married over 10 years later with a little girl. Worked out great for them, and they both have solid PE jobs.
Just curious, how did they maintain a super secret romance? I mean no one ever noticed?
They just did a good job of convincing everyone that they were just platonic friends, and their group broadly hung out socially together all the time.
I find these things happen all the time in finance. When you're a guy that's working long hours and you're sitting next to a female coworker and share the same trepidations/suffering/ambitions with her you're bound to wonder how it'll be like.
You've set a high bar for wondering what it'd be like with someone. My mind goes straight there with... pretty much anyone I see walking down the street
Banged coworkers all through college working part time at call centers or retail jobs or what have you. Wouldn't do that shit in a real job though. You'd be surprised how quickly word spreads around. The same thing that'll get you high fives and "hell yeah, man" in a part time retail job will get you in some real shit in the real world.
I dated a coworker for almost a year although we were in different groups within the bank. We kept it under wraps from senior members of the firm, but most juniors (analysts and a few close associates) knew about it. Not really an issue as we both got our work done and hardly mingled while in the office. I actually enjoyed the experience and it helped me get through the rough IB analyst years.
Sometimes in the office a man begins to see a manatee as a mermaid. dangerous territory.
I see this happening too often, this is hilarious.
