Any Trance heads out there?
So im bored out of my mind right now and zoning out to www.di.fm which is probably the best electronic radio station in the world. Just wondering if there were any other WSO users out there that are Trance/electronica/techno and any of the other sub genres fans out there.
Yes, I only listen to their Goa/Psych channel and ASOT.
Love trance, especially Armin/Tiesto's stuff from around 2002-2003 and that sort of melodic trance. Also, progressive house/trance are great too e.g. Andy Moor, Tilt, Infusion, Ava Mea. Finally, on the lighter side, funky house, like anything on Hed Kandi, never disappoints.
I love trance/house. Anything on "In Search of Sunrise" is usually pretty good. Been listening to a lot of Gareth Emery, Glenn Morrisson and Nadia Ali lately.
there was a great website to listen to the latest releases (inc radio mixes)
ill pm once i find it again. entire tracks.
download armin's ASOT #386. live recording from his last armin only concert in LA for new years. pretty sweet set
SAC - Love Gareth Emery, my favorite is "This is That" mashup with "Take me away" by 4 strings. Its the opening track off of Fabio Stein Big Room 003 Double Pack.
I like Tiesto, Armin, PVD, Fabio Stein, Alex Morph, Alphazone things like that. I really like the progressive genre because of the buildup to a climax and then really go crazy.
"Oh the ladies ever tell you that you look like a fucking optical illusion" - Frank Slaughtery 25th Hour.
trade4size - Haven't heard Fabio Stein yet, will look him up.
If you haven't already, you should subscribe to Emery's podcast, its great, and download his song "Metropolis".
Check out Serge Devant. First heard the guy last summer when he opened for Tiesto's concert in NYC. He has become pretty sick now. Also, has a new album coming out.
haha, cool thread. I usually download ASOT every week, I would say trance/house is all i really listen to. I did miss Ultra in miami this year...anyone else go?
I like trance, though I've sort of moved on from it. I much prefer electro-house at this point.
I recommend you all check out The Twelves "Episode II" for a good mix, Justice is awesome, obviously. Some Simian Mobile Disco is cool too.
Digitalism is also pretty awesome. Check out this remix if you like:
I've always been a fan of ASOT. I've somehow managed to accumulate the first 350 mixes as both full sets and individual songs. Man, it was a fun waste of time doing that.
Usually, I'm all about finding more things by the artists I like. I've been enjoying ATB's new album. I have Blank and Jones in circulation on my iPod, Tiesto, Sander Kleinenberg, Ferry Corsten, Jurgen Vries, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and BT get rotational time, among others.
When it comes to mixes, I've got about 175 sets from Radio1's Essential Mix collection that date back to 2002. I have the last ~50 podcasts of Above and Beyond's Trance Around the World. If more melodic and uplifting is your thing, I would highly recommend A&B.
I just got Blank & Jones - Relax Volume Four and this CD is sick.. anyone into chillout should definitely get this. Solarstone - Electronic Architecture is another recent release that's been getting playtime.
Thought ATB's new album was pretty disappointing. I'm a huge fan of No Silence and Trilogy CD2 so I found Future Memories to be too much of a return to his old style.
Another good CD is Tiesto's ISOS7. I initially didn't like it, but after a few listens I started to really appreciate it. Both CDs are pretty good. They're a bit lighter when compared to ISOS6 and other previous albums.
Just heard this song on di.fm what do you guys think
"Oh the ladies ever tell you that you look like a fucking optical illusion" - Frank Slaughtery 25th Hour.
Note: Edited for embedded video, thanks t4s.
Solid track trade4size, takes me back to that 2002-2004 melodic uplifting trance sound, maybe like Armin - Sunburn or Birth of an Angel (instrumental of Shivers).
Sunburn:
Birth of an Angel (especially):
Endlessrain: Thanks for the heads-up on the new Solarstone release, love that guy's work...'Like A Waterfall' and 'Late Summer Fields' are amazing, just to name two. As far as the ISOS series, IMO went downhill after #5, but that's just me.On another note, if people will be around in NYC around labor day weekend (and can get out of the office), Electric Zoo festival should be sick...great lineup (too many to list here), being put on by Made Event, these guys know how to throw a party. And before someone asks, I'm not at all affiliated with Made...
Link: www.electriczoofestival.com
to put the direct youtube link just click "input format" click full html then on youtube click the embedded link. Real easy.
I really like progressive, anything that builds up and eventually goes ape shit.
"Oh the ladies ever tell you that you look like a fucking optical illusion" - Frank Slaughtery 25th Hour.
Gabriel & Dresden - Dangerous Power
Gabriel & Dresden - Replay The Night
I am surprised no-one has mentioned Markus Schulz. I liked his CD "Progression" from last year. Also, recently ive started to noticed that a lot tracks I like are by Andy Moor (Fake Awake, Faces, DayDream (Markus schulz feat andy moor).
Nice, keep posting embedded links. I love finding out new styles and artists.
"Oh the ladies ever tell you that you look like a fucking optical illusion" - Frank Slaughtery 25th Hour.
Damn. Do I have a lot of youtube videos for you guys. The stuff I listen to is a little more mellow though, hope you like it.
Let me know if any of this is new, and if you like it, I'll keep 'em coming.
I'm a Toronto native, and Deadmau5 is the hometown hero up here. Check out his stuff. Progressive.

Click TATW Podcast.
290 AmazingTiesto/Armin all day er' day. For real, get into Tiesto's club life podcast (via itunes). An hour of crackness every week totally free, and you can put it on your ipod too.
Russ Chimes - Never Look Back
Use the link incase the embedding doesn't work for me. I used to love Tiesto and all that stuff, but it's honestly too repetitive for me.
^^^^Highly recommend John Dahlback.
I agree Gareth Emery is incredibly talented. Also look out for Deadmau5's new LP.
i never heard any of this... pretty sweet
No clear cut winner for me this year but as a label I think Anjuna Beats stole the show. Here are some of my favorites from 2010
Welcome to my world Monty (>)
send me links...
[email protected]
yea i thought i saw all of you fistpumping at pacha
Oldschool for me but still a classic. You know im always down for Pacha with the NJ contingent. I fist pumped before the fist pump was the fist pump bro.
Side question: How come every time I paste the shit from YouTube to embed a video, it doesn't work when I submit my post? I feel like such a forum noob right now.
Fixed that for ya TK, click on full html in the input format so you can embed.
Oh and throw in Tim Deluxe to my likes, I realize this video is old as hell but I always find myself watching it every other week. Haha.
Woah, as a frustrated DJ back in college this takes me back. Another "too many too list" post for me here. LOL I'm more into prog though. Some guys I like off the top of my head:
PVD Sasha Digweed Ricky Stone Carl Cox Axwell Robbie Rivera Norman Cook/Fatboy Slim (as a DJ) Felix Da Housecat Van Helden Timo Maas Chris Lake
While I appreciate Sharam and Dubfire's new stuff, as Deep Dish those guys were AWESOME, they really should get back together.
Same with Chicane, the Chemical Brothers.
EDIT: Props for Gabriel and Dresden, Dahlback, Rudenko, and Deadmau5! Keep em coming guys.
Thanks Jorge.
trade4size, agree - though I would say Anjuna is pretty consistent in bringing quality. With that, some of my favorites there, 2010 and previous:
And this last one, while not on Anjuna - is a total classic - required listening for any trance fan:
When I was going through my techno stage, I used to listen to ATB, Sander Kleinenberg, Gala, Sequential One, Red 5 (and I don't remember others)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rjSs0tgX44&feature=youtube_gdata_player
And a little more recent Ayumi Hamasaki and Fukai Mori:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE66EOpI3gc&feature=youtube_gdata_player
glad to see people here into trance.. here's an older one, but one of my favorite trance tunes ever
dacarez - love the daniel kandi track recognized it almost immediately.
Sad how mainstream Tiesto is going, but this song has held its own on my playlists recently
Oh wtf ever, Tiesto isn't going "mainstream", he's big enough to do whatever the fuck he wants. Just because it's not the same as what he used to do doesn't mean he's selling out or some shit.
Not necessarily in general, and I've seen him live, probably my favorite DJ of all time. But the fact that the Official music video is a clip of DJ Hero the video game,
, makes me love videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-5mGwyhruo even more.you couldn't be more wrong
Long live Dubstep. Any Bass heads out there?
More of a House guy myself but the Di.Fm Deep House station makes me pass out it's so chill.
Tiesto "going mainstream?" Tiesto's been mainstream for the better part of a decade.
I mean, when you're one of the biggest DJs on the planet, it's kind of hard not to be "mainstream"
trade4size and dacarez, had no idea you two were such anjuna fans as well. did you get a chance to snap up a tatw 350 ticket? unfortunately i can't make it, but will be at WMC to see them as well as any NYC events they may do for the group therapy tour.
Hmm, wasn't aware of it to be honest, maybe would have flown down to LA for it... I'm almost certainly going to Ultra this year - their Miami party is on the 24th...
not a fan of 1 hour ultra sets, unless taking the vip route. yea, they always do it on thursday. their party was the 2nd best this year after ferry's OUAN1 event. absolutely loved jaytech in the anjunadeep room. i really hope they bring andrew bayer in 2011.
i also had a nice 30 min chat with tony at another event about the Group Therapy album and he said it would be out september-ish. guess they decided to save it for early 2011 right around WMC.
i'll be sure to drop you a msg closer to WMC. enjoy the tatw 350 broadcast friday night!
Because I'm an idiot and can't figure out the formatting of embedded videos, here is the youtube link, the song is worth your time, I guarantee it
Any fans of this guy?
Been a while since i heard it but it popped on just now had to post to this thread
Epic
macro - yes - absolutely epic - also check out Crush on that album
trade4size - I approve of this posting. Excellent track...
Just heard this one tonight, my mind was blown:
looks like you guys are into the more uplifting stuff. if you like prog too, i'm sure you'll love Arty - Zara.
also Krzysztof (Nitrous Oxide) has a new one called Downforce that you guys will probably enjoy.
Yes uplifting/epic is by far my favorite sub genre. Arty is great my favorite is Tritonal - Utopia Arty Remix
yep his utopia remix is also one of my favorites. if you come to wmc and i can introduce you to the Tritonal guys. btw, do you frequent any of the nyc gigs (like Massive's parties)? super8 and tab will be at cielo on feb 24!
I will see you guys at ultra miami in march
Its very rare that I will see a show my friends arent into the music.
Had a few friends in new york that are into the music - now I'm in SF and that's no longer the case - plus my good friend from NY is in Europe now anyway...
By the way, Massive definitely throws solid parties...used to get hooked up all the time (hanging out with free drinks in the booth) knowing Matt...
nice, matt and mike are good people.
@trade4size, you should still come to the events without your non-EDM friends. it's their loss. i've met some great people doing so and if you love trance/prog as much as i do, then its completely worth it.
*
dacarez - I really like that track. Listened to it like 10 times today its good stuff.

I'm a big fan of trance and house! Out of curiosity, does anyone listen to dubstep?
This is my all time favorite :)
Melodic Trance in the di.fm fashion
Signum - Timelord
Gouryella - Ligaya http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo4IZTm_UPU&feature=related
Stargate - Waverider is great but not on youtube
Here are two Fluke songs that are a cut above, but not the usual trance style
Fluke - Goodnight Lover
Fluke - Bullet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD1IUXf9yAA
Motorcycle's As the Rush Comes is one of the best recent trance songs in my opinion, and Solar Stone's Seven Cities is my all time favorite, but only the Armin Van Buuren mix (on Gatecrasher's Disco-Tech album).
I completely agree that Di.fm is definitely the best radio I've ever heard for trance, also.
My latest obsession
shogun has been making some great music lately... loved run to my rescue, both the original and the signum & al-exander remix
Its all about breaks.
If you want sick electronic sets check out soundcloud.com.
I just love this thread (no homo):

Thanks for all the links...wish I was at Ultra this year. My brother lives in Miami, and hasn't made it in so far Last year he got burned on counterfeit tickets. Next year I am def plan on going.
This will get the blood flowing. Part of his new ish that is absolutely incredible.
much respect to layo and buckwacka posted earlier.
this is my jam of the week
Definitely going to the Above & Beyond album release party at Palladium on 5/14 - tickets go on sale tomorrow morning (10AM PDT) - anyone else going?

Anyone here want to do a meet-up at Above & Beyond on 5/14? reply here or PM me
New Solarstone mix-set out - Electronic Architecture 2 - total-must have...
Solarstone - Big Wheel:
Friend's dubstep, just started a few months ago, actually pretty decent: http://soundcloud.com/surfingsoundwaves/
This thread needs more Epic Trance
http://www.youtube.com/embed/PsgKoX7m8vU
Just noticed that you have the "and Justice for All" album as your display pic. Guess I'm not the only metal head who also listens to trance.
Hell yeah man. Guitar riffs, synth riffs – I like them both heavy (which is why house sucks to me).
www.dogglounge.com
streaming deep house that is awesome
Going to Sensation White Prague 2011 before my SA stint...
hella.
So while in Boston, I went to some boathouse party in the marina, and between the 90's trance and other unmentionables, it reminded me of this thread.
(why do people on x have such a horrid taste in visual art?)

Just stellar:

Silver Banana here:
What track is playing at 1:41:08 of Armin Van Buuren - ASOT Ep 437 - 31-12-2009 ??? It's the one with the piano and it's awesome but I have no idea what it is.
Thanks.
(EDIT)Never mind found it. AVB - Face to Face.
glad you bumped this - is anyone else going to the Eco album release party at the end of July at Hudson Terrace in NYC?
I know this is a trance thread, but I figured I'd bring in some more types of music:
1) Dubstep- Skrillex is killin' it. His collab with Korn makes me go fucking insane. Two of my favorite genres, mixed.
2) Hardstyle- Zany (pretty mainstream as far as hardstyle. When I first got into trance I was a huge Tiesto fan (and still am), but I've found that drum & bass and hardstyle get my blood moving like nothing else. Here's DJ Zany's Pure:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/huR-HeLegEY
3) Drum & Bass- DJ Hype. One of my favorite tracks, a pretty chill one, too:
Oh, and for Tiesto fans, I don't know why but this Headhunterz track kind of reminds me of some of Tiesto's stuff (specifically Parade of the Athletes):
http://www.youtube.com/embed/IG3bgTDWYOM
Thanks Argo :-p
No prob, DM :) Always happy to share a first class experience :)
^I'd reckon you're from South India.
