Anybody Else Addicted to Energy Drinks or Soda?

Never drank soda as a kid. Now, I cannot be productive without either drinking coffee, red bull or some soda beverage that is caffeinated. I'm not fat at all (despite the profile picture), but I'm getting concerned that if I keep this up, I will be 5-10 years from now.

Anybody else in a similar boat? Thoughts?

If you keep this up, you will be 5-10yrs from now? Energy drinks aren’t time machines. 😂😂😂

Cut the soda out, and the energy drinks as well if they have sugar in them; the sugar free ones aren't great but are better than the sugary ones. Soda is liquid sugar and excess sugar is going to absolutely kill you over time.

I am the furthest thing from a health guru but the older I've gotten the more I've noticed that sugar is in damn near everything we eat (if you're in America) and it's a drug that almost the entire country is addicted to at some level. If you don't believe me, do a hard 72 hour total detox from sugar, and you'll notice that 1.) almost no foods you want to buy in preparation are actually sugar free, and 2.) your body will be in hell during those 72 hours, especially that second day. But once it's over, you'll notice that you're not craving sugar anymore (after only three days) and that things like candy bars and soda do not taste the same, they do not taste so good anymore. I did this about four years ago and it really woke me up. I felt like I'd been a drug addict for years without knowing so.

Coffee is fine, but take it black or with a  big of milk or cream (although those still have sugar).

As an alternative, consider caffeine pills. They're cheap, simple, easy, won't stain your clothes or teeth. I sometime keep half of a caffeine pill (100 mg, about one cup of coffee) on my nightstand and start my day with a glass of water and a "caffeine nap" while still in bed.

But that sugar will absolutely kill you, especially once you're over 25 and your metabolism slows down. Sugar increases the risk not just for weight gain and diabetes, but for cancer and other issues as well.

Yeah I recommend espresso and dark chocolate almond milk, or even green tea or black tea if you have to drink something at your desk all the time.

Were your teeth ok - did you get cavities?

Go sugar free, but please try to stop. I drank a bang energy drink every day my freshman and sophomore year (had two a day during recruiting), made no changes to dental health and ended up with 4 cavities and has painful fillings which took an hour and cost my parents like $700 after insurance. Got my offer and haven’t drunk one since but it kind of ruined my energy levels and I feel like shit

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

I would advise drinking pre-workout.  Its got as much or more caffeine than the energy drinks but it doesn't have sugar or carbonation

Yeah I like Nitraflex - 325mg caffeine

No I don't drink coffee or energy drinks. Makes my heart palpitate weirdly and gave me bad sleep. Id rather be tired and get good sleep than be on the edge all the time and have heart palpitations.

Cut out soda and energy drinks, that shit's bad. I used to drink an insane amount of coffee throughout the day, fucked with my sleep etc. Now, I limit myself to only two caffeinated cups a day, and I can't have any caffeinated past lunch. After either my two caffeinated cups or my lunch deadline, I'll just slam decaf all day because I like having something hot to sip on at my desk.
