Anyone find it amusing that some grown man are butthurt about the new Little Mermaid movie

Some dude even went as far as using AI tech to switch the face to a redhead ginger girl for the entire movie so that he can truly enjoy it.

White actors play non-white characters all the time in Hollywood, so why the outrage when the table is turned? Not to mention, Ariel is a fiction character who doesn't even exist in real life, and her ethnicity was never clearly identified.

When’s even more amusing is that this is generally the crowd that constantly pulls the “whys everything have to be about race” card 🤡

White dude playing an Austrian dude who’s acting as a black dude who then improvised as a Chinese dude. Can’t make this up!

I think you're willfully ignoring the nuance that when people get upset about white actors playing non-white characters its usually only in instances where the character's ethnic background is relevant to the story (ScarJo in Ghost in the Shell) or is being mocked (Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's). There's also the historically been the issue of studios choosing white leads in films because of them being easier to market to the broadest audience. (Yes there are now more black stars with mass appeal like Will Smith/Denzel/Samuel Jackson but it's still an issue, particularity for less well known actors)

I...

First off, Ariel is actually a Danish fairytale. And what are Dane's known for? Redheads. And Scarjo being in GitS makes sense because again if you actually know the story, the Major was a Russian refugee and that's where it started.
