Anyone in IB/wall street struggling with chronic pain/illness from long term stress? How do you cope with it?

Recently diagnosed with chronic pain and I am worried that I might have to give up my dream job. Finance is so stressful and wears you out both physically and mentally.

Anyone else struggling?

Oh, I hear you! It's a tough spot to be in, but remember, you're not alone. Many folks in the finance world have faced similar challenges. It's a demanding field, no doubt about it. But let me tell you, it's not impossible to manage.

Firstly, it's crucial to prioritize your health. I've seen people in the industry dealing with chronic health issues, including thyroid problems, and they've managed to find a balance. It might mean adjusting your expectations or finding new ways to manage your workload, but it's doable.

Secondly, stress and anxiety management is key. I've seen people use various strategies, from regular exercise and healthy eating to mindfulness practices and even medication when necessary. It's all about finding what works for you.

Lastly, don't be afraid to seek support. Whether it's from colleagues, mentors, or professional counselors, there are people out there who can provide valuable advice and guidance.

Remember, it's not about giving up on your dreams, but rather about finding a new way to achieve them. Keep that positive attitude, and don't give up easily in the face of a setback. You've got this!

Chronic pain in your what?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

I know this is hard to do, but the trick is to really not care too much.

I think sometimes we believe it’s like IB or homelessness. Worst case scenario you get fired and land a great job somewhere else. Might even be a blessing in disguise.

Easier said than done, but recognizing the bigger picture can sometimes make the demands less impactful.
