Anyone in SF who likes techno/house/hardstyle/raves?
I love all those types of music but am really the only one in my friend group. Always trying to drag people to shows but they don't want to go 99% of the time or don't want to spend the money. Figured it would be nice to make some friends who are into it and can afford to go.
Doubt it, SF has a very small music scene /s
Thanks bud, obviously the people are there, just trying to meet them!
I would recommend going to shows solo and trying to meet people. It will be impossible to filter though the general population to find people who have your interests. Instead make filtering east by going into the belly of the beast and find people who like the music (why else would they be at the show), and were able to afford a ticket.
It can obviously be a bit daunting going to shows alone, and while I recommended that you go to meet people, your main intention of going should be to have a good time, otherwise you may come of as desperate when talking to people. I would recommend talking to people at the bar or outside while having a smoke. Would not recommend talking to people on the dance floor. Try and grab a number or two and invite them out with you to your next show. From there the dominos should start to fall.
The rave community also is really centered around Reddit/FB Groups. Id find groups specific to your city and try and look for other single ravers there.
Lastly, there is an app called Radiate, which is a social media aimed at ravers. Its gone kinda down hill and has sort of devolved into a drug sourcing tool, however I figured id mention as it is definitely another avenue and the app does have some really cool features that are underutilized by the community.
Hope this helped more than my sarcasm.
I used to live out there. Check out Stamina Sundays for some good drum & bass. If you want hard dance music there's not a lot but I think Plur Alliance still does shows at DNA Lounge. For House/Techno I found myself at Public Works. Bring a pack of cigarettes, make some friends in the smoking section.

You need to say Fuckem and go by yourself, man. Personally I dont listen to this music & can’t say what to do/how to act at raves to socialize like TechnoDemon, but if it was a genre I listened to and wanted to have fun/make friends I would go alone and start talking to random people as soon as I get there (take this advice with a grain of salt - is not advised by TechnoDemon, who I could guess has more rave experience than mine (none) - I just like talking to random ppl and would do so if trying to make friends)
Anecdotal but my brother went to a Migos concert by himself and says it was the best concert he’s ever been to to this day. It was a week or two after Migos dropped Culture album and I can imagine how turnt that shit must’ve been. He went to the concert and made friends with some random shorties next to him. I’d slap a baby to have been there
Worst case scenario of you going alone is you got to see some music you like, but didn’t make any friends. Oh well… then you move on ..
If you're around NYC and interested, id happily take your rave cherry.
would be down if I was out there, lad :(
Based in nyc and would be interested
+1 on not being scared to go solo. It can be better than going with friends or a big group who “aren’t feeling this set bro” and that type of downer shit, or drama.
Plenty of places to strike a convo - in line, before set starts, water station, etc. easier said than done of course
