Anyone with invites in ASMALLWORLD?

Hello everybody,

A friend of mine mentioned it quite a long time a go and since then ive been asking around.

I realise this might be a pretty desperate act but is someone of you a member of Asmallworld and is willing to invite me?

Thank you

From their page: 'A private online community designed for those who already have strong connections with one another. By invitation only.'

Now, why on earth would I invite a person I don't know online to join a 'community designed for those who already have strong connections with one another.' Sort of defeats the purpose of the group.

agreed +1 to that, if you are asking for an invite to ASW, chances are you wont ever get one

Sending PMs asking for this isn't something that engenders a desire to help you out.

EmilyKhouriIt's funny how aSmallWorld is still unheard of in a lot of circles. Have a few invites left for those who still havent made it. PM me with your email address.

You realize ASW lost its relevance some time ago? Your bump and general post is a pretty good indicator of it too.

International Pymplol... i just pulled this up when I searched for ASW....

I remember those days, when invitations were actually scarce and it was cool to join.

Kinda reminds me of back when MENSA was a big deal...

I am a software developer can i get a job please tell me about how can i get a job i search am searching to internet for few days i am not getting a job i want to get a job to the uk can any person give any information.

Actually never even tried it, but I've heard it's gotten significantly watered down recently. But hell, I'll contribute to it's decline - can I get an invite?

International Pymp Originally people used it just to think they were cool and be elitist

Became a member of the site in 08 when it started to get more saturated. For the longest time I was trying to find anyone I knew that could get me an invite to the site and I eventually got one from a friend of a friend only to realize soon enough after almost a year that I had 12 invites when I barely used the site...

I used it more for when I moved/ travel to a new city because the people on the site are at least certainly helpful for helping you find good places to go eat/go out afterwards. You certainly do run into your fair share of people who are well traveled. I have met people through the site who are club owners, restaurant owners, etc. that've been really helpful to me when I travel to other cities.

With that said the site still has very much a pretentious aura about it (hence why it was once called Snobster, a play on the old school networking site Friendster)

But you are definitely right in that the old days are over for that site. I would say before 2006 when the site actually almost deserved its haughty reputation people would ask on forums for restaurant recommendations and several members would go out of the way not only to mention certain restaurants but also name drop prominent members of the establishment for them to ask for. Now that the network is open to people aside from diplomats, investment bankers (meaning generally VPs and above not analysts), and entrepreneurs the quality fo the site and forums has significantly diminished.

In response to the growing saturation of aSmallWorld though other "more" exclusive sites have apparently popped up like Diamond Lounge which apparently are a lot stricter with their entry requirements. Don't know anyone on that site, all I know is that there's also a yearly fee associated with being a member and that you need multiple invites from members to be accepted supposedly....

If you want a real elitist, snobby sites us.beautifulpeople.net. An "exclusive members club for beautiful people only" to be a member you must be accepted by a majority of the members over a three day period. And once you're accepted, you get the privilege of paying $27/month to rub elbows with other hotties! Lol

Haha i'm in ASW and beautiful people....i dont go on those sites anymore, the people on them are often too shallow and full of themselves to be worth your while

@Onebuck: yeah.... I really wanted to become a member in like 05-06 but I couldn't figure out how to get an invite (a few friends were on, but no one had invites)... then i became a member in something like 07 and it was still cool for another 6 months or so and then it started to fade out and whatnot. It was kinda dope though, for a while... or maybe it's just cause I was still in college/kind of silly.

I've heard of some of the other sites, but I'm kind of over the whole exclusivity of a website thing.... not to say I wouldn't join if someone invited me ---- but it's kind of a thing for young kids and socailites. The main people that benefit from those sites are high-end luxury brands, as they have a perfect medium to maximize advertising dollars. It's funny cause pretty much 100% of the adds on ASW were like hermes/rolex/netjets... retarded.

It's seriously nothing that great.

I used to look through the job postings that were on the site. And I would classify the jobs in one of two ways. One being the jobs that are for people who are so well established they probably wouldn't being using the site to find another job. These are the people with existing and well established relationships with HNW individuals and institutional relationships. But that's what one end of the spectrum is looking for.

The second kind is primarily for the purely prestige chasing, social climbing candidate. Usually the jobs are for some interesting places but they are generally commission only or have some kind of steep incentive based pay to them.

All in all, use the site if you want it as a resource for traveling somewhere and interacting with other people who travel extensively around the world, other than that nothing crazy to write home about anymore.
