Are Macs losing popularity?

Apple recently introduced a touchscreen version of the MacBook Pro. Yet, despite this exciting addition, an article in the Wall Street Journal claims:

Macs have been losing ground to other personal computers. Market researcher Gartner Inc. said Mac unit shipments declined 11.3% in the second quarter, compared with a 5.1% decline for the rest of the market.

I agree with this claim. Although many college students own Macs, they usually prefer laptops such as the Microsoft Surface Pro and Dell Chromebook because Macs are often incompatible with programs needed for certain business, computer science, and engineering classes.

Thoughts? Do you think the Mac is losing in the personal computer field?
