At what salary can you start calling it “fi-NANCE”
So I work in finance in Europe (non-English-speaking country), and everyone in my office says “FY-nance.”
When my fellow grads and I did our training in NYC, though, we noticed that all the big bosses and senior speakers seemed to call it “fi-NANCE.”
This got us wondering: at what point in your career are you allowed to start calling it “fi-NANCE”? Is it tied to a specific tax bracket, salary, or job title? VP and up?
This post is also here to settle an ongoing discussion. Our current estimate is that the threshold is >$250k a year.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. If I walked into my office tomorrow saying “fi-NANCE,” I’d be laughed out of the building.
Anyone under 30 saying it fi-nance should reevaluate their career
