Audi A5 Sportback vs BMW 4-series gran coupe

tryna cop a car sometime in the next few weeks for a job up in the Chi--monkeys, do I go with the classy, statesmanlike Audi or the emphatically aggressive BMW? Or, do I just accept that by not working in NYC I am become pleb and get a used 2012 honda accord?

If you have no family than I would choose the two door version of any of the two cars. They just look so much better and if you have no family it doesn't really matter whether you have 4 or 2 doors.

With regard to the choice I'd go with the Audi! Audi released the new A5 recently and I think it looks really good. The BMW looks really good too, however, it has been very similar for many years and I am a bit tired of it.

In terms of driving, entertainment, comfort, luxurious interior etc I would put both at the same level. Depending on you budget and your configuration you can get both cars with really nice high end interiors.

Keep in mind that at the end of the day you spend more time IN the car so rather spend some more money on making it nicer / more comfortable in the interior rather than spending more money on some fancy color of the car.

The A5 sportback looks considerably better than the A5 coupe (me: former A5 coupe driver).

From the perspective of someone who loves driving and used to street race:

Audis drive like shit. They look cool and they're comfortable and all that, but they have terrible drive feel. Not responsive, loose steering, can't feel the road at all. Recent BMWs aren't as good as the older gen with tight hydraulic racks, but the sporty BMWs still have the best and tightest road feel. Can you feel every pothole in a BMW? Yes. But fuck, they feel great to drive. My dad's Audi a7 drives looser than my sister's Jeep Grand Cherokee for christ's sake.

I agree that the Audi A classes drive poorly, but I just switched over from a 2014 A5 to a 2018 S3 and the S3 is sick af. Incredible acceleration, near instant torque, and ridiculously tight steering. It drives as well as my 2010 GTI but is way faster. This is the first time I've really, genuinely enjoyed driving. With that said, the A5 coupe had one of the nicest interiors you could get for under $100,000. It was siiiiiick. The S3--even 4 years later--isn't quite as lux.

In sum, if you want a great Audi driving experience, go with the S classes.

Yeah the S3 is definitely a performance car. Nice ride.

But, did you consider the BMW M2 when you were looking at the S3? Its pretty sick.

I did not. Basically, I had leased a 2014 Audi A5 and the local Audi dealership offered me a sick deal to turn my car in early and re-up with them. So, the decision wasn't: "Audi S3 is better than M2 [or any other car]"; it was more: "Dang, I can't get this deal on a comparable car of another brand."

Basically, my A5 deal was terrible, but as a returning customer they gave me a great deal. So, it was the first time I had ever felt like a VIP, lol.

Update: after test drives and a lot of research, I ended up finding a great deal on a 440i gran coupe (which also was far and away the most fun to drive), so I went with that.

I have the cash to buy, so I’ll buy

Nice.

Obviously, WSO strategy would be to take that cash, lease the car instead, and then make billions on bitcoin with the money you invested using this strategy.

It's been modded slightly with OEM parts (M Performance package incl. +35bhp), so I'm likely gonna keep it as-is for the moment. Alpine white w/ black dakota leather, and the carbon fiber spoiler/splitter.
