I pay her 1k/hr to "date" me
Women pay for my first dates; it's a hedge on the time investment.
Always challenge them to a bet (most times a billiards game) and I end up winning. They pay. See the chemistry from there. If good? I pay later, in other ways.
Sounds cheap when I say it online, but in real life it works very well. Girls also value guys they have to chase for (google catstring theory). And hey, why do guys have to be the ones who pay all the time?
I'm fighting gender inequality. I'm a male feminist.
I googled it, and wikipedia wasn't the first link so I said "Fuck that".
I'm glad that there's someone as gallant as you fighting for those poor souls. Good luck
If you're sexy enough, women will offer to pay. This only works it they don't know how much money you make.
I've never spent more than $20 total on a first date. Then again, my first dates have generally been tea places. If you have more expensive tastes, your mileage may vary. By the way, there's no reason you should be paying all the time. Either split the bill or offer to pick it up next time.
(Also a convenient way to arrange a second date. By the time the bill comes you'll generally have an idea if you want one or not).
first date depends on:
further dates depend on:
If you still have to worry about a restaurant bill then you're doing it wrong. I just bought a new car and almost forgot to ask how much it cost...
Nice BB Quant!
If you don't mind me asking: What type of firm do you work at? What sort of role are you in?
Very impress accomplish BB Quant! Do you work at GS in TMT?
Should I PM you my resume, I'm seeking for the summer internship in Investment Bank.
99% sure this is overcompensation
Not one person answered the question without some bullshit answer. $100-200...(in Chi town)
100-200 for a >8.5 with high expectations only... that's just a waste of money for a regular dater
I don't go on many "first dates", only if I'm really into her, otherwise it is called a one night stand..
hmmm... i mean i'll admit i've spent too much on a first date for a certain quality of woman, but after the first date i don't see much point in unloading that kind of cash, unless it's a special occassion... you're saying your dropping 100-200 when you know you're already in? try taking her out for ice cream and a walk in millenium park - solid $200 bonus to the luxury watch fund
From experience, anywhere from $50 to 200.
Personally, I'm not too big a fan of guys who throw down immense amounts of money ("immense" being relative to their career, of course) on a first date. Seems desperate. Charm me with your dashing looks, your witty conversation, your oh-so-interesting life... anything -but- the Benjamins, because a few hundred is easy to acquire but a decent personality isn't. I'll screen for the latter before the former.

The last first date I went on cost about $20 if I remember correctly - but I was also 18 at the time.
$100-$150, don't see why I'd spend more on the first date. If I'm taking her on a date, I'm not expecting to get any on the first night, so spending more than that isn't a good enough RoI
chicandtoughness - i would never spend to "impress" a banker chick - actually i would probably never take one out, for the same reason you mentioned above - little value add. I'd rather find a school teacher, nurse, sales marketer who has a heart of gold and doesn't care what a cap table is
Perhaps "offended" isn't the right word... how about "feels bad"? For some reason there's a stigma that if the guy offers to pay it's because he finds you "less able". I don't adhere to that, but feminist chicks do. And ironically, these same feminist chicks end up in stereotypically female career paths like PR/marketing and education... maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong kind of girls.
1 round if things don't go well 2+ rounds if things do go well
I think $100-200 is about right for a nice but not absurd dinner in NYC with a bottle of wine. Like someone else said...this is only if you don't date much. At this point the girl should be potentially more than a one nighter.
dinner plus pegu club if in NYC...sealed the deal when i was around (especially if girl is not banker or JAP). agree with HF baller that first dates are saved for special occasions, so probably going 200+.
My cheapest date was $3 dollars. God bless four loko and slutty college girls.
However, I do pay every time regardless of price. The last thing I wanna be dealing with is a feminist.
$6-30 always. i just say im still a grad student in nyc so im broke. works like a charm.
Instead of thinking about how much to spend, figure out how to make it interesting. Maybe start with a drink or tea. It is short and sweet. Usually after the first 5s, you can tell if you will get a long or not. You don't want to stuck 2 hours eating $200 meal with the most boring person in the world. Being on the other side of the table, it makes me feel bad too. I would rather pay for my own food and enjoy it by myself.
Think in term of experience. Ask yourself how to create an unique experience. Just like in marketing, people love unique experience.
I actually don't like guys who burn money. It is good for me if he will be just a boyfriend. A girl always needs shoes closet investor. However if I want to marry him one day, I prefer someone who can manage money and don't spend money on useless things that don't add a lot of value to life.
It's pretty hard not to spend $50 grabbing a few drinks on a first date.
I can definitely see how coffee or grabbing pretzels in the park would be cheaper, but pretzels don't have the same yield as two martinis.
It completely depends. Am I looking for a relationship or a slampiece?
I can't remember how much I've spent on dates. But they are usually just things I want to do that I just so happen to bring an attractive girl with me.
