It is for the NYC office. I understand candidates are able to specify preference; however, I would imagine it would be somewhat of a crap shoot. Is MS Lev fin stronger than BAML? BAML has done exceptionally well in the HY/Lev Loan space, but I have also heard there work is more closely alligned with corporate rather than sponsor related work.

I would do Lev Fin @ BAML since you would get more exposure to modeling. Once you get that experience on your resume, leverage your experience for one of the better banks in the Lev Fin groups at the top tier BBs for FT. It is common belief that Lev Fin group places well in PE exit ops.

It depends on what you are looking for. Both are great opportunities (BAML Lev Fin is really strong and MS is a top tier IB all-around), so it really depends on your interests. Considering it is a SA position, I would focus on what you are hoping to get FT. In other words, if you are interested in Lev Fin going forward, then I would go with the sure thing - BAML Lev Fin and work towards earning a FT offer. In that event, you would have a strong FT offer in your group of choice with a top player in the Lev Fin space (as well as the opportunity to potentially shop around a bit if you wanted to).

If, however, you are interested in industry groups (whether one in particular, or in the industry side in general), or are interested in M&A, then I would probably go for the stronger IB name and regardless of where you land, work on earning that FT offer and leveraging that strong bank name into FT opportunities.

Again, both are strong opportunities, but if your goals are Lev Fin, then go for BAML since it is both a great opp in the space and will allow you to work in the space to see if it is, indeed, the right group for you. If, however, Lev Fin is not necessarily your group of choice, then go for the better brand in general and hope for good group place. At the end of the day, it is a SA position only, and you can make around come FT if you are offered a FT position and both opportunities will definitely strengthen your resume.
