Currently at a top BB in HK, but I've been looking to lateral to the mainland for personal reasons. Can anyone shine some light on how the IB scene is in Beijing? How are the EB offices in Beijing compared to the BBs and the Mainland banks (CITIC/CICC/etc)?
Not sure how the EB and MM Beijing offices are, but I rarely see them involved in our deals (Asian coverage for MF). The BBs are pretty strong for cross-border deal flow, but from what I've observed CITIC/CICC really dominate domestic deal flow.
I mean yeah it technically is, considering it's the country's central bank and carries out monetary policy and the regulation of all financial institutions in the mainland.
How come? If it is the central bank that means its highest authority is Xi. Now there is a dichotomy between extorting your private sector billionaires to choke up more money for “social causes” as well as reigning the tech sector in by their neck, and then going ahead and paying hundreds of thousands to public sector employees in their 20s? That makes no sense no?
