As someone who grew up here, I have scores across all four boroughs (screw SI) that I love going to that are relatively untouched by the scores of transplants and tiktok influencers moving to NYC. But I think the beauty of NYC is really exploring and finding your own spots/discovering existing ones on your own.

Not to mention the more people hear about stuff, the less the "vibes" of the place sustain themselves. The great lawn for instance, ten years ago was an incredible place to vibe and nowadays nearly impossible to find a big enough space to truly chill.

I like the East Village.

Highly recommend Book Club in east village. They have a no laptop rule after 7 pm and it’s really nice for having a glass of wine / catching up on some reading. People are also super friendly tho and usually chat at the bar
