Best Notetaking App

May be a stupid question, but anyone have good recommendations for a simple, clean notetaking app?

Not sure why there's so many options on the market (Notion, Evernote, OneNote, etc.), but they all kinda blow or aren't that applicable for finance users? Too many unnecessary features

Looking for something that is mobile friendly & cloud-syncing (nice to be able to jot down random investment thoughts on my phone and have it immediately pop up on work and personal devices). Notes app on iPhone is fine for mobile, but obviously annoying to port over to Windows w/o logging onto iCloud

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some recommendations for notetaking apps that align with your needs:

  1. Evernote: Highly recommended by finance professionals for its robust search functionality and ease of use. It allows you to aggregate all your notes in one place, making it simple to find information quickly. It's mobile-friendly, cloud-syncing, and works seamlessly across devices.

  2. OneNote: Another popular choice, especially for those in finance. It offers great keyword search functionality and allows you to structure folders for different projects or deals (e.g., "client," "internal," "buyer"). It's also cloud-syncing and integrates well with Windows.

  3. Notion: While it may have more features than you need, it’s highly customizable. You can create simple, clean templates for your notes and sync them across devices. It’s mobile-friendly and works well for organizing investment thoughts or action items.

  4. Apple Notes: If you’re already using the Notes app on your iPhone, it’s a solid option. While syncing with Windows can be a hassle, you can access your notes via iCloud on a browser, which might be a workaround for your needs.

For a finance-specific use case, Evernote and OneNote seem to be the most practical and widely used options among professionals. Both are mobile-friendly, cloud-syncing, and designed to handle the demands of a fast-paced finance environment.
