I like the East Village the most followed by the West Village.

Flatiron / NOMAD is kind of boring.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Depends what you like to do. Flatiron is a good neighborhood but moreso for mid age to older folk. East and West Village are probably the most fun and have a better set of age demographics. UES is nice too if you enjoy a more quiet environment, but has a lot of old / retired folk. Murray hill has a lot of finance types but the area isn't fun and it's somewhat noisy on certain streets

Brownsville or Bed-Sty, maybe Fordham.  You'll be making peanuts and working so late that they'll give you a car home most nights.  Your money will go a lot further there.  Just don't venture outside after dark, or on days that end in y, and you'll be perfectly safe.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I work in Nomad. I don’t think it would be a great area to live. Pretty much a commercial / office district. You’re better off ten blocks up or down from 30th. Madison Square park is nice, though.

I concur.

I tried to go on a date downtown once, since we both work down there.  It was miserable, because everything basically closed at eight.  We had to grab a cab uptown after dinner because there was nothing to do.  Keep away from business only type areas for living unless you like quiet.

I lived around Midtown East for a year, near 1st avenue.

Very dingy area, not fun and everyone on the streets looked depressed. Now in LIC. It’s similar here but a younger crowd
