I like the East Village the most followed by the West Village.
Flatiron / NOMAD is kind of boring.
Depends what you like to do. Flatiron is a good neighborhood but moreso for mid age to older folk. East and West Village are probably the most fun and have a better set of age demographics. UES is nice too if you enjoy a more quiet environment, but has a lot of old / retired folk. Murray hill has a lot of finance types but the area isn't fun and it's somewhat noisy on certain streets
Brownsville or Bed-Sty, maybe Fordham. You'll be making peanuts and working so late that they'll give you a car home most nights. Your money will go a lot further there. Just don't venture outside after dark, or on days that end in y, and you'll be perfectly safe.
West village or soho or noho
Williamsburg
I work in Nomad. I don’t think it would be a great area to live. Pretty much a commercial / office district. You’re better off ten blocks up or down from 30th. Madison Square park is nice, though.
I concur.
I tried to go on a date downtown once, since we both work down there. It was miserable, because everything basically closed at eight. We had to grab a cab uptown after dinner because there was nothing to do. Keep away from business only type areas for living unless you like quiet.
Exactly. I live on the upper east side and there are so many wine bars and nice restaurants open fairly late. Would be great date spots and I have taken my parents to dinner in the area. I usually stop for food on the way home in ktown though since it’s quick and pretty cheap.
I lived around Midtown East for a year, near 1st avenue.
Very dingy area, not fun and everyone on the streets looked depressed. Now in LIC. It’s similar here but a younger crowd
I concur. Have been in that neighborhood and confirm it’s just old and nasty looking for the most part minus a few nicer blocks
Pretty much anywhere between Broome Street and 23rd in Manhattan, Williamsburg or maybe Greenpoint in Brooklyn, and LIC in Queens are the most common ones. Less often, I hear UES, Kips Bay, FiDi, Dumbo, Bushwick, Fort Greene, or Astoria.
Personally, any of the Villages (East / West / Greenwich), LES, or Nolita are my favorites
