Best Retribution!

I didn't want to say revenge/payback because that would imply you do something to them:

Have you ever came back and realized you are in a much better situation than everyone you grew up with because of your hard work and business savvy?

A high school football player, who peaked and was overconfident, working at the worst place? An ex who realized they had missed out? Someone who just tried to mess with you in college?

How did it feel to be in a better world? Did you rub it in their face or just explain how happy you are? Did they feel even worse when they found out you were better then them?

I know this question sounds cynical, but its meant to a reward for hard work karma. This is the only place you can brag, while we understand your humble beginnings in the corporate grind.

Yes, to a degree - just returned to my hometown where all my best friends are making 1/4 to 1/3 of what I make (will make next year) and seem much unhappier with their jobs than I am with my upcoming one. Left home, got a degree from a much, much better school etc etc.

They are happy for me and I am happy for them - it was/is great catching up, and this situation isn't like the ones you're describing above where you're trying to one-up someone who did you wrong or was overconfident etc.
