Business Insider: The Future of Mobile
I am a nerd. I find the following interesting and thought-provoking:

The Future of Mobile, Business Insider key takeaways:
*Last year, the number of smart phones sold exceeded then number of PCs sold
*Mobile apps are now a $10 Billion mkt and is growing at about 100% per year, unreal growth considering apps have only been around for as long as the Apple App Store has been aroung (2008); mkt is projected to grow to $25 Billion by 2014
*Angry Birds has over 600 Million downloads
Draw Something - a controversial acquisition of this app by Zynga has been talked about before on this website; the siginifcant data points are: launched in 2/2012, already the number one app in 79 countries, downloaded over 20 Million times, generates $100 Million in revenue per *day (that's not a typo), has over 12 Million users per day; to put that growth into context, it took Aol 9 years to get to 1 Million users, Facebook took 9 months, and Draw Something did it in 9 days (again not a typo)
In summary, mobile tech is big business, despite being around for only 4 years.
$100M REV A DAY? No shit I find that very thought provoking too haha
Though I do think that number is off, Zynga paid $180M for Draw Something which was created by OMGPOP. OMGPOP was making $250K of revenue from in-app purchases so I find the $100M/day number to be absolutely ridiculous. The thinking behind the acquisition was that a lot of users might also check out what else Zynga has to offer. http://gigaom.com/2012/03/21/zyngas-draw-something-audience-acquisition/
To be sure, mobile is a big business, but not sure if it's that big.
Actually that is a typo, it generates over $100 Thousand per day.
Correct,that was a typo. $100m revenue a day is a little high.
WSO finallly learns about the post-PC era...
yeah....this sector is actually old news by now
