Buzzwords

I am a summer analyst and this is my first experience with "corporate america." I have heard numerous buzzwords that make me question how people come up with these.

Some examples of things i've heard: *"I have some extra bandwidth if anyone needs anything"

  • "I took a look at the report, I think it is a little too granular"

  • "Would you mind letting me drive, it will be quicker" (In reference to the person using my computer when showing me something)

  • "Make sure to take his temperature when at the meeting" (In reference to seeing where the client is at)

These are just a couple I can recall. Would love to hear some of your favorites.

Wouldn't call these favorites... they are more akin to fingernail pulling

  • "I'd like to get some color on..." Means they haven't read the report yet and is about to ask you something that is explained in the next paragraph

  • "Thx" You're an adult, type like one

  • "Lets circle up" This is dbag talk, we aren't circling anywhere

  • "High level" Translation: I haven't completed my due diligence yet

  • "Quick and dirty" Get ready for an assault of questions where the answers are buried in the audits

Not bank specific: * "It's like comparing apples to oranges" Why can't fruit be compared?!

"m_1" Can you provide more color on X.
The origin for this one, IIRC, is the ticker tape color. Just like "paint the tape" and similar expressions.
I have a friend who lives in the country, and it's supposed to be an hour from 42nd Street. A lie! The only thing that's an hour from 42nd Street is 43rd Street!

These are just some that I hear and see around the office. Hope you enjoy -- thx. "Massage the numbers" "Circle back" "High Level" "In the weeds" "Seasoned" "Thx" "Are you fucking kidding?" "Add some color on..." "Take a stab at..." "Call a huddle" "Low hanging fruit" "Fuck you" "Circle the wagons" "Pls"

Dayman?

"Folks", "Around the table", "pound the table", "drypowder", "roll up their sleeves", "see the court", "understand the route". the word - RIGHT - in 'statements such as - "folks dont want to pound the table for a low conviction investor, {right}" or "folks want a high quality GP, right", or "Folks like a liquid cash like holding, right", or "folks like tapatio more than cholula, right"
