Can a portfolio manager date an i-banker?

Hi, monkeys!

A friend of a friend is a portfolio manager at an asset management company and he is currently dating a girl who works in M&A. They both cover the same location and the industries often overlap.

Even though they don't work for the same bank, I was a bit surprised that they are so open about being together. Isn't trespassing the Chinese wall a big no-no if you want to keep your job?

They probably know what they're doing, but I got curious about how these things are handled nowadays.

This is not an issue unless his girlfriend is loose-lipped about what she's doing at work. Frankly, if their mutual interests are exclusively in which M&A are occuring soon the relationship has other problems.
