Certified User Group Suggestions

Alright, folks. We had the WSO suggestion thread thats led Patrick to rekindling this group in particular so I figured it might be prudent to throw out another suggestion thread specific to the CU group in the hopes that we can come up with some ideas that will make it more robust as well as make more of us likely to be engaged in its use going forward.

What would you guys (and girls) like to see the CU group have, do, or improve going forward?

It would be nice to have a direct link to this group, either on the home page, right bar, or in the groups dropdown.

DONE

Now that's service right there.

I'd like to see people use the chat to connect and network more. To make it easier, shoudl I put a direct link under the Group nav to this group... obviously only Certified Users would be taken there, but it may make it easier for us to jump here / keep a tab open.

I'd like to make sure there is plenty of trash talk in about our Fantasy Football league in here.

That's it for now.

trailmix8I think it would be cool to have a rule where if we get a new CU, they have to write an introductory post.
Maybe a CU introductory thread?

Yes, like a sticky thread. Also, mandatory hazing rituals.

I may not be on the Jedi Council, but I sure am great with the Force. See my WSO blog posts

Drink hazing. Bear fight style.

SirTradesaLotDoes chat work on iPhone/iPad?
I almost exclusively browse WSO on my iPad at home so this would be a great functional feature if its possible/doesnt already exist.

Ok, stupid question: where is it? Preparing for my next stupid question: what exactly is the advantage of chat vs. forums?

The main page of the Certified Users Group (//www.wallstreetoasis.com/group/wso-certified-user-group). Advantages - instant gratification (ironically coming off the heels of our previous conversation RE: the younger generation needing instant response). Interesting to have a real-time conversation instead of time-lagged responses on the forums.

Thanks for posting the link. For the first time ever, I officially feel old. If you didn't post the link, I never would have found it.

This reminds me of the time I met with the CEO of a regional bank in about 2005. I would guess he was about 65-70 years old at the time. Something was very odd about his office and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Towards the end of the meeting, his assistant walked in with a huge stack of papers and said, "Here are your e-mails.". Only then did it finally dawn on me that he didn't have a computer in his office and that he responded to his emails by writing on printed copies of his emails by hand which his assistant typed and sent back to people.

Now that guy is me...good times.
