Chicago Rent Budget

How much should I spend on rent as a FT analyst starting summer 2026. Heard to look in River North or West Loop/Fulton Market but am curious to see what others have been paying recently and details such as bedrooms, roommates, building names, etc.

I would recommend River North and Gold Coast/Old Town. Wrigleyville is also fun. West Loop is nice but unnecessarily expensive. Not a lot of "neighborhood spots" in West Loop which can make it harder to meet people. Just my 2 cents.

Generally, you probably want to be around a younger crowd if you don't already have a bunch of friends in the city.

If you don't need a ton of amenities, there are a lot of options in those neighborhoods for a 1 bed / 1 bath below $2k/mo.
