A longtime Republican that has 80% approval rating is endorsing Obama.

I love the glee with which the politically uninformed announce supposed victories for their banal causes. ST2008, while I have no doubt that the last conservative President left office before you were an itch in your daddy's pants, I have to agree with you that you are about to get the government you deserve.
I like Colin Powell. He's the one of the few Republicans, who actually uses their brain and doesn't do stupid things. But, my guess is he's only doing this to get into good standing with Obama since he's gonna win. It's like the same thing when Bill Richardson endorsed Obama over Clinton for the DNC convention. He did it to get into good standing with Obama.
Well, I have to disagree with you because the race is still competitive and it can go either way at this point.
A black guy supporting a black candidate for president? No shit?!
Bush realized the guy was a wishy-washy bum and fired him years ago.

Colin Powell is black. Who did you expect him to endorse?
Why is it that there are people who still categorize Blacks as drones apart of a collective? The logic that Colin is voting for Obama because he is Black (which is debatable because his ancestors were slaves in Jamaica, not the US) is just an example of the lack of progress the US has made in its racial relations.
What is even more interesting is that people who think this way don't take into account that: 1) Colin is a Republican - Following the logic that "Colin is Black so he is going to vote for a Black candidate," one would also have to say that "he is Black so he has to be a Democrat." This is clearly false.
2) Colin is frequently ostracized in the Black community and is frequently referred to as an "Uncle Tom" and a sell out. This would make most upset with "their people."
3) They are neglecting Colin's life experiences, wisdom, and intellectual thought process (which was displayed during his interview in Meet the Press) because he of African decent. For those of you who are driven by logic, clearly this is a "Straw Man" fallacy.
Now if you are a dedicated racist, forget what I just said because I understand that your thought process is a little different. To you all Blacks vote the same and are the same. I wish they (Minorities) would stop acting the same so I could write something on that too, but I digress.
Being racist is more logical than the "Colin is Black" statement. At least racist are intelligent enough to draw their conclusions from a logic. If green-eyed people where disproportionately represented in prisons, inaccurately portrayed by the media as Blacks and Mexicans are, and made their situation worst by perpetuating their negative image by other counterproductive behaviors (i.e. glorifying the "thug life," characterizing anything intelligent as "white,"etc..... ) , I would have probably be bias towards them as well.
Minorities (as a whole) need to get their stuff together; racist are tired of them. That makes sense.
Colin is Black; that's why he is voting for Obama. That doesn't.
I wouldn't say that Colin Powell solely endorsed Obama on account he was black if he did would've done it way back when everyone was cheering that a black man is goona be President. Don't get me wrong being black was the cherry on top, but honestly I think that its because Powell feels that the Republican has lost its ideals small government, less spending, more individualism and basically become a hodgepodge of red-neck, ultraconservatives, bigots, populists (e.g Sarah Palin's Joe 6 Pack) who basically curse and blame everything on minorities to Democrats without acknowledging their own faults. Don't get me wrong Democrats are socialist, pot smoking, elitist pussies who should get beat a good beat down, but nonetheless the Republicans have really fucked up this country and Powell being moderately conservative would probably gravitate to the change/non-conservative guy. Plus, I bet Obama would throw him something for getting his endorsement maybe not in the government but he'll get some benefit.
that's my 2 cents...
